On today’s show, we speak to DAP’s YB Wong King Wei of another land scandal brewing, but this one right here in Sarawak. YB Wong tells us that his investigations have uncovered a shady land transaction, in which 6,765 acres (yes, that is 6,765 acres!) were sold at way under market price to another oil palm company, GreenPro Farm Sdn Bhd. The owners of GreenPro at the time of the transaction in January 2015, the 23 year old Mohd Syah Afik bin Mohd Ali and 35 year old Mohd Nazril, stumped up over RM2 million for the plot. Sounds like a lot? Maybe, but still a fraction of the amount they should have paid – RM300 per acre instead of RM4,000 according to valuation figures. The two have promptly cashed in, selling their company to a group from Perak. YB Wong has delivered his findings to the MACC after being given the brush off by the CM’s Private Secretary. MACC to the rescue this time?

Samling are up to their usual rape and pillage tactics; this time around Lio Matu. Ambrose Asang reports that the internationally reviled logging baron has been encroaching on their ancestral lands, well outside the boundary of their provisional lease. Cracking down on illegal logging, Adenan?

Bujang of Lundu, near the CM’s own constituency, rails against the section 6 survey. His community have rejected it and chosen to trust the NGOs. As he says, how can we trust Lands and Survey when all this was done in the 1980s – the land fully surveyed. Yet, the titles have never come out. Seems like the State Government want a ‘do-over’ that is more in their favour.

We hear part 2 of our interview with Nicholas Bawin on his trip to Taiwan. He shares his wonder at how Taiwan, with such a small land mass can provide for its people, though sadly, many of the indigenous groups, to whom many believe the Ibans are related, are facing the same problems that indigenous groups face the world over.

Our investigation into the electrification of Balai Ringin continues. Awang Tengah says 80% now connected. So far, it seems that he may be counting chickens before they are hatched. We have called two different kampungs and while the posts are in, the lights are not yet on. Tuai Rumah Ajah is in the same situation as Brangka yesterday, and neither of them are counting their chickens yet. Ajah tells how this is the third time they have nearly seen the light. Yet, they remain in the dark!

Our spotlight is on Sri Aman today where there is a potential three-cornered fight. Merikan, local to the area, tells us about their issues – money politics and massive land grabs. So little development after so much time. Then Leon Donald, prospective candidate for DAP tells us what he can do for Simanggang and, though he would accept the situation should the nomination not go his way, he tells us why he thinks his party are working harder on the ground. PKR hopeful Norina Umoi wasn’t available for interview – she was in the spa (really!).

We end with Michael Luang, well-known Melikin activist, who strikes back at Awang Tengah’s warning to reject the opposition because they are controlled by West Malaysia. Who is at the head of the BN coalition? Without a viable opposition, he says, the government gets a free ride and after 53 years, we should all know what that means.

Tune in for all this and more, plus our Borneo Bulletin.

Pembangkang banyak mengetengahkan tentang kebenaran namun BN banyak menyembunyikan kebenaran.
