We hear views from the ground about the method by which the state government has brought communities under control by appointing and paying their leading 'representatives'. Robin Inggu from Pakan expresses his concern that these appointees are not there to stand up for the communities and their needs but rather to impose what is convenient to the government and to make the people vote for his own political paymasters. Robin wants the system of appointing tribal leaders needs to be freed from the grip of political power and returned to qualified and competent people chosen by their community. Online from 6pm....
