According to Jaraee, all parties should be given the right to appear on TV and radio. Jaraee also objected to the Prime Minister's open house program in 6 states that will hold state elections. If there is a unity motive, it should also be held in the state of Borneo, said Jaraee.

  New technology and methods are needed to boost the pepper industry in Sarawak, included the use of new hybrid planting materials and greenhouses to increase production while reducing labour, says Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

  Initially, Pn Agnes planted over 1000 pepper trees, but now only about 300 trees are still alive and producing yields. Initially, the Department of Agriculture provided training to the longhouse communities on how to grow peppers. However, the price of fertilizer has increased while the price of peppers in and around Mukah and Selangau is only RM6 per kilo. Pn Agnes is forced to transport her pepper yields far to Sarikei to sell for a higher price of around RM12 per kilo, which is a 2-3 hour journey from Mukah to Sarikei.

  Another reason for the lack of fertility in crops for small farmers in the Mukah area is air pollution coming from the Mukah aluminum processing plant, the smelter plant. Since the plant was built, it has been difficult for farmers to maintain their crops as fresh as before the plant was constructed. What happened to Mrs. Lina added pressure on a 65-year-old woman who is fighting cancer. There are many cases of elderly people still without identity cards in LAWAS/Sarawak. The case involves Basar Arun and Joseph Pengirang - both are over 70 and have fought to defend the sovereignty of this country during the emergency and confrontation against Indonesia. They were given a bravery medal/medal by Queen Elizabeth-for risking their lives fighting against the enemy of the country. Agnes requested that PMX Anwar Ibrahim's administration take the field, understand the problems facing the people of Sarawak that have not been resolved for a long time. There are so many problems faced by the rural communities of Sarawak who do not have identity cards.   Pertaining to EU parliament to approve EUDR is acceptable because the purpose is reduce forest degradation globally to produce sustainable via environmental friendly system. Especially products from agriculture area that were in the first place was forest. but what we concern is that the said regulations are not quite clear the meaning of deforestation . Because all those agriculture areas are originally forest area. So it is quite difficult to say that all those products are  non deforestation process. So this will give negative impact on tropical products like Malaysia. 90 percents agriculture areas are originally forest areas. So it direct impact on Sarawak Sabah economy.

  His concern also on areas like Temuda, or cultivated areas which are originally the NCR are mostly planted commercial cash crops such as oil palm, rubber and etc. So is EU also include NCR as classification deforestation?

Although there are still logging concession areas within the UBFA area, UBFA management will ensure that every logging activity adheres to the concept of environmental sustainability.
  So far, logging has destroyed the environment and left forest destruction and river pollution to indigenous people. However, with the new concept of UBFA, logging may be replaced with better forest benefits such as "carbon traps". Simply put, forests don't need to be destroyed, but the benefits of the forest should be returned to the indigenous people.   ICs of a different colour represent different resident status.  they all represent different resident statuses

  Most people will know about and have seen the blue card otherwise known as MyKad. Those are usually issued to Malaysian citizens at the age of 12 and shows that they are full-fledged citizens of the country.

  If they have a red card otherwise known as MyPR, they are residents of Malaysia with a permanent resident status. For those with a green card or MyKAS, they are temporary residents, their card will need to be renewed every 5 years.

  She explained that it is possible to apply to change from MyPR or MYKAS to MyKad, but the required conditions are complex, including the necessary documents and proof of good conduct and behavior, among other requirements, in order to make an application and wait for approval.

  In the past, many applications were not approved, and although it is now a unity government, it is not yet time to judge how effective the unity government is in making the process of applying for a Malaysian identity card more convenient.

Gereng Jadum felt sad because none of the counselors and tribal leaders were appointed from the Penan Murum tribe. While Penan Murum has many problems.

  He said that, If a community leader/counselor is not appointed from among them, How their problems will be able to be expressed. Their problems now are- no schools, no clinics, no roads/roads of logging companies, no Mykad, many children have dropped out of school and most unfortunately we have no source of income. The government that moved them to make way for the construction of the Murum Dam, did not take care of their welfare.

  Gereng said that, they were not given lots of agricultural land for farming - food crops were not given. Therefore, they request YB Senator Abun Sui to come and visit them immediately to solve their problem. Because- all these problems they have voiced to YBs from GPS for a long time. But till today they failed to solve our problem. They really hope that Yb Senator will come to visit and see for himself their situation.

MUDA welcomes this move, but also raises a question: Why is there no subsidy for the air tickets to Sabah and Sarawak to help East Malaysians return home?

  Jeffery said expensive flights were nothing new. Air tickets to East Malaysia are expensive, and even the elderly have never left their homes taken a plane.

  He said, often one-way is already thousands of ringgit, not to mention round-trip air tickets. These prices are unreasonable. There is no air ticket subsidy that can be enjoyed by the people of Sabah and Sarawak in every festive benefit project.

  *leading villagers fight for their rights and land*

  Jeffrey Hassan leading the Orang Asli of Pos Lanai Kuala Lipis Pahang, last week having trial at Termeloh High Court to seek legalize ownership of their land and territories as they have in 2019 won their battle against the proposed Telom dam when the PH govt scrapped the project, which threatened their village underwater and as well as logging.

  In the early stage of the project, they were forced to move to a settlement site without knowing that their land and territories was for dam construction.  But soon after that the community realised what was going on,  Jeffrey started to organised his community to fight for their rights to their land and territories with the help of NGOs and Lawyer.  In the beginning Jeffery was facing difficulties in organizing the community as some were not agree to fight. Dispite having to face difficulties, he has to struggle to take legal action and last week they were having trial on their case and will continue. He realizes that the struggle is not easy and taking long time.

On 17 January 2023, the Minister of Home Affairs confirmed that 120 thousand foreign workers have landed in Malaysia and this number will continue to increase to 500 thousand by the end of 2023. There are also isolated cases but very rare.  For example those who stay near to town or city due to ignorance of the family that cause the children grown up stateless. And facing problem when applying for IC.

  And further more the procedure is very strict.  With the case that she shared with Malaysiakini is about to get married but no IC when the mother can't afford to deal with it. As the JPN need photo of his father to match but unfortunately his father already passed away.

  The complicated cases are the Jehai and Bateq as they are living in the interior and don't know how to obtain Birth certificates.  They only depand on JAKOA.  But for them JAKOA is not serious in addressing this issue.  Only if the community want to convert to Islam then they will help to obtain IC.

  There is no government agency coming to help them. Until there was a case which is very serious when that particular person went out to town to purchase some stuffs and and coincidentally at that time was an operation to clear illegal immigrants that fellow was caught and treated as one of illegal immigrants . He has to convinced the enforcement that he is not immigrants.

  Apai Manggi is a green IC holder who has to renew every 5 years. It is difficult to have a green IC because our status is considered as a foreigner.

  Nick informed RFS listeners about some developments related to illegal logging in the interior of Baram over the past 2 weeks.
