Jack Jau, Resident of Baram from Long Panai
*The Sarawak Indigenous Advocacy Organization NOT represent Baram People*
The Sarawak Indigenous Advocacy Organization (APS) claiming that recent logging activities mentioned by Save River will affect the livelihood of the people of Baram. APS Executive Director Nigel Raymond stated that logging companies have greatly contributed to building roads, sending Baram children to school, and providing job opportunities.Jack Jau from Long Panai, is get shock by the above statement.
Jack argues that APS does not represent any community in Baram. The Baram People are unfamiliar with Nigel Raymond and APS, and unaware of their activities. Suddenly, they emerge with a statement that strongly favors YB Dennis Ngau and the logging company.
Jack does not deny that logging companies provide some job opportunities, but the environmental damage caused by logging activities is beyond imagination. The people of Baram should be cautious in supporting certain NGOs that suddenly appear and claim to represent the interests of Baram's residents-----------------
Chew Choon Man, PKR MP Miri
*In Miri, where urban poverty and slum living conditions persist*
Chief political secretary to the Premier, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, rejects the notion that Sarawak, despite its wealth, has the highest number of impoverished individuals. He questions the reliability of poverty data from eKasih, which is often associated with such assumptions.
Chew CM acknowledges issues with eKasih and mentions ongoing efforts to streamline the data. He acknowledges the prevalence of poverty in Sarawak, particularly in his own parliamentary constituency where urban poverty and slum living conditions persist.
Chew CM suggests increasing the extreme poverty line from RM900 to RM2000 monthly household income, as proposed by PMX Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasizes that poverty should not be solely measured by income, but also by factors such as household size, access to basic amenities like schools, roads, and clean water. The Ministry of Economy, in collaboration with PKR Sarawak, has launched the People's Income Initiative to raise the minimum monthly income for the poor to RM2000. The federal government is committed to eradicating poverty in Budget 2023, and those in need are encouraged to report to the government for assistance. Support the efforts of the PMX-led Government in eliminating poverty.-----------------
Mahmud Epah, PKR Asa Jaya
*The biased redelineation of constituencies is a tactic employed by GPS to secure more seats*
The Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Chief Minister's Department (Law, Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, stated that the redelineation process of electoral constituencies in Sarawak is expected to be carried out this year. She mentioned that this is due to the completion of the study on the process, which is set to conclude after the eight-year timeframe.
The redelineation of constituencies is seen as the greatest benefit for GPS Sarawak. They can strategically manipulate the boundaries of constituencies based on their analysis, resulting in some areas having fewer voters while others have an increased number of constituents. This is perceived as a dirty tactic where the redelineation process appears to be fair but actually provides them with constituencies that yield higher voting rates.
The opposition coalition, PH remains the opposition in Sarawak and is expected to take action to awaken voters and make them understand which side is the right choice. Mahmud Epah believes that PH, being a unity government, can bring significant development to Sarawak, and thus voters should carefully consider choosing PH Sarawak, which can bring development to the state, instead of continuously being exploited by GPS.

Jeffrery Ngui, Chairperson of Muda Sarawak
*Criticizes GPS Government's Lack of Attention towards Small Stall Owners*
MUDA Sarawak launched an initiative last week in the Matang area, with the objective of supporting small businesses. MUDA Sarawak provides assistance to nasi lemak vendors operating at bus stops and roadside stalls. The initiative leverages social media to promote these businesses, generating significant enthusiasm.Nasi lemak is sold at affordable prices, ranging from RM1 to RM1.50 per packet. MUDA Sarawak actively seeks out small businesses in residential areas and stalls to offer support. They also have plans to visit the Asajaya area to explore opportunities for reduced rental costs, allowing small business owners to offer their products at affordable prices, similar to Menu Rahman.
Jeffrery Ngui mentioned that the assistance provided by the GPS government has not been helpful to these family-based small stall owners. These stall owners, unable to afford legal stalls, resort to setting up roadside stalls to sell their food. He believes that GPS should provide assistance and convenience to these small stall owners with family responsibilities, offering them suitable and safe locations to operate their stalls.
During a courtesy call to DAP YB Chong Chen Jin at the State Assembly, MUDA had a meaningful interaction where they familiarized themselves with the house rules and observed the YB's participation in debates within the assembly. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between MUDA and DAP, gain firsthand experience in the DUN assembly, exchange views and insights on issues concerning the people and politics of Sarawak, and understand the governance and protocols followed during the sessions.
We aimed to deepen our understanding of the role of ADUN in the assembly.
