*NO MORE PL on NCR land*

In 2018, the Sarawak government gave PL to the palm oil plantation company Mega Makmur Plantation Sdn.Bhd to develop palm oil plantations. However, due to the covid pandemic, the project could not continue. But this year the company involved decided to continue the project. Residents of Rumah Labang Nanga Seridan-Tinjar protested and demanded that their 275 hectares of NCR land be removed from the PL given to Mega Makmur. Residents have set up a blockade and it continues to this day. For now the situation is peaceful, there is no provocation and Jok Jau hopes that all the parties who are in conflict can sit at the negotiating table. Jok Jau expressed his admiration for the residents of Rumah Labang who bravely fought for their rights to NCR land. He hopes that this case of invasion can be resolved properly. For now all heavy machinery - Mega Makmur companies are not allowed to continue their activities.

*Taib’s Family Property Dispute in Sarawak, Is Time To Prove Wealth Accumulation and Land Seizure* The Kuching High Court today fixed Aug 15 for the case management of an application for injunction filed by former deputy tourism minister Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib against his stepmother, Raghad Kurdi Taib. Mahmud Epah comment that is it time to proves Taib's significant wealth and demonstrates how he used his position for the benefit of his family to accumulate more wealth. The son's accusation against his stepmother regarding the property also proves how Taib enriched himself by seizing people's land and properties, such as in Bakun, where he issued empty promises to the local community in order to take over their land and forest rights for the construction of a dam. Now is the time for us to wait for the results.Abun Sui argues that this is a case of a family dispute over property, and the people have not benefited from it. The only way the people of Sarawak can benefit is if this wealth remains in Sarawak.

*Unmonitored Vape Sales: Youth at Risk and the Need for Regulatory Measure*

MUDA has raised concerns about the unmonitored sale of vape products. In the recent budget announcement by PMX, it was mentioned that vape products would be subject to taxation. However, the Health Minister stated that nicotine would not be classified as a poison and products containing nicotine would not be monitored. This raises concerns about the impact of such a decision, particularly regarding the easy access to vape products for underage individuals through unmanned auto vending machines. There have been reported cases of children suffering from nicotine poisoning. Although there was an initiative called "endgame" to prohibit smoking for those under 18, the corresponding bill was not approved. The implication is that nicotine is not effectively regulated, which poses a danger due to the lack of enforcement. This situation is particularly concerning for youth and those still attending school.
