Nick Kelesau, Spokesperson for the Penan Keruan Organization
Penan Villages Take a Stand Against Logging
Nick responded to a media report that said 2 Penan villages in Ulu Baram refused to be involved in the auditing process of the Malaysia MTCS Timber certification scheme for the FMU Forest Management Unit. Nick explained that not only two, but the majority of Penan villages in the UBFA-Ulu Baram Forest Area, disagreed with the auditing process. Only a small number of residents agreed - they were probably influenced by Samling's promises. Nick explained that the Penan association and the Penan leaders from each Penan village (within the UBFA Area) had written a protest letter to Samling and that Samling was not allowed to enter the land of the Penan to log. In media reports, only Long Lamai and Ba Lai are said to refuse auditing. Nick hopes that Samling will respect the rights of the Penan people who do not want logging to damage their forests.

Mahmud Epah, PKR Asajaya
Slams UMNO's Push for Najib's Release
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has revealed that he visited former prime minister Najib Razak in Kajang prison to express the party’s unwavering commitment to push for his release. At the same time, Zaid Ibrahim has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to free former premier Najib Abdul Razak "for the sake of the people”. According to the former minister, this was because, in the scheme of things, RM42 million (the value of corruption Najib is imprisoned for) is a "small change”.
Mahmud Epah stated that UMNO clearly considers itself an important part of the Unity Government, acting as a "kingmaker" to threaten PMX to release Najib. He said that this is an irresponsible act and should not be exhibited by a member of the Unity Government.
He emphasized that PMX Anwar Ibrahim, has already stated his commitment to institutional reforms and fighting corruption, while Najib has been convicted for corruption. Therefore, PMX should not and does not need to pay attention to such threats.
Mahmud Epah pointed out that UMNO and others should understand that under PMX's leadership, Malaysia is undergoing a transformation and is attracting the confidence of foreign investments, which greatly contributes to the country's development. Releasing Najib would raise doubts about Anwar's ability and determination to carry out reforms. Therefore, UMNO's persistence undoubtedly poses a threat to the country.

Orang Asli learn TikTok to spread their voice
Social media has become one of the ways to connect the world. For indigenous people living in remote areas with underdeveloped infrastructure, they hope to convey messages through social media to showcase their culture and the challenges they face.
The TikTok workshop held on June 10th was an online workshop aimed at connecting the community with the outside world through the online business system. It also served as a means of promoting products from the Sg Mai community.
The first content of the workshop focused on Balai Adat activities, showcasing the unique cultural practices of the community. Additionally, the workshop highlighted their water source, which is essential for their daily livelihood. The village's water source is unique in its own way. Nearly 20 participants took part in the workshop.
